FAQs / Google Reviews

Why isn't my Google review showing up?

Usually because it is still being checked, or Google's filters have held it back. Google says the checks can take a few days, and reviews that look risky, such as ones from staff, from brand-new accounts or arriving in a burst, may never appear. Merged profiles, an outdated Maps app and profiles where Google has switched reviews off can also stop reviews from showing.

Every review is checked against Google's policies before it is published. Google's own help pages say that in some cases this takes a few days, so a review that is missing an hour after it was posted is often just waiting.

If it still has not appeared after several days, the filters have probably held it back. The same signals that lead Google to remove reviews also stop new ones going live: an unusual number of reviews in a short space of time, reviews from people connected to the business, reviews that mention a discount or reward, and content that breaks the rules on links, contact details or abuse.

There are less obvious causes too. After two Business Profiles are merged, Google says it can take a few days for reviews from both to show. Customers on old phones or old versions of the Maps app may have trouble posting, and Google suggests they update the app. Google also says it sometimes turns off reviews temporarily for certain profiles or business categories.

To check properly, search for the business in a private browser window while signed out, wait a few days, and look again. Do not ask the customer to post the same review over and over; repetitive content is itself against the policy and makes the pattern look worse. If a whole batch of reviews vanished after your profile was reinstated from a suspension, that is when to contact Google Business Profile support.
