Can ChatGPT create a website?
ChatGPT can write the code and the words for a simple website, but it does not give you a finished business website on its own. You still need a domain name, somewhere to host the files, a working contact form, and someone to check that the content is accurate.

Ask ChatGPT for a one-page site for a plumber in Leeds and it will produce HTML and CSS that you can save as a file and open in a browser. It can also draft page copy, suggest a menu structure and explain how to fix an error. For someone comfortable with files and a bit of code, it is a useful helper.
What it does not do is the rest of the job. The code has to be uploaded to a host, connected to your domain name, and kept working. Contact forms need something on the server side to deliver messages to your inbox. Images need sourcing. And every time you want to change a price or add a page, you are back in the code or back asking ChatGPT, which can introduce new mistakes.
Accuracy is the other catch. ChatGPT writes confident, general text. It does not know your areas, your qualifications or your actual prices, and it can invent details that sound right. Anything it writes about your business needs reading line by line.
For most trades owners, an AI-assisted website builder is the easier route if you want to do it yourself, because hosting, forms and editing are built in. Use ChatGPT for drafting the words, then put them into a platform you can maintain.
