How do I redesign my website with AI?
Use an AI builder or assistant to draft layouts, page copy and images, then check every page yourself before anything goes live. The part AI will not do for you is protecting what already works: keep the addresses of pages that bring in visits, or set up permanent redirects from the old addresses to the new ones.

AI tools are now built into most website builders. Wix can generate a starting site from a short chat, and Squarespace's Blueprint asks a few questions and then proposes a design. General assistants such as ChatGPT can write page copy, suggest a structure or produce the code for a simple page. For a first draft, that saves hours.
Where they fall short is detail and accuracy. Reviewers testing these builders have found generic copy and stock images that had little to do with the business. AI does not know your prices, your areas, your accreditations or the jobs you are proud of, so it fills the gaps with something plausible. Every claim on the page needs checking by someone who knows the business.
The bigger risk in any redesign is losing the visits you already get. If your old site has pages that people find on Google, note their addresses before you start. Keep the same addresses where you can. Where a page has to move, set up a permanent (301) redirect from the old address to the new one. Google's own guidance says permanent redirects pass the old page's standing to the new one, and that changing a site's structure at the same time as other changes can cause a temporary dip while Google reassesses the pages.
A sensible order is: list your current pages and which ones bring in enquiries, use AI to draft the new design and copy, rewrite the copy in your own words with your actual areas, prices and services, map every old address to its new home, then launch and watch Search Console for errors in the weeks after.
