How to improve Google Business Profile?

Fill in every section accurately, pick the primary category that matches what you mainly do, list your real services, and keep hours, photos and posts current. Then ask every customer for a review and reply to each one. A complete profile that is clearly looked after gives people more reasons to call you.

Start with categories, because they shape which searches you can appear for. Your primary category should describe the core of the business in Google's own terms, such as Plumber, Electrician or Building firm. Add secondary categories only for work you actually do and want enquiries for. Ten loosely related categories dilute the picture rather than widen it.

Next, the services list. Add the specific jobs people search for and pay you to do: boiler repair, fuse board replacement, loft conversion, end of tenancy cleaning. Short, plain descriptions help, and they tell a customer at a glance whether you do what they need.

Photos do a lot of quiet work. Real pictures of your van, your team, finished jobs and before and after shots reassure people that you exist and do good work. Add a few every month rather than fifty on one day, and skip stock images. A customer can tell.

Keep the basics exact. Opening hours, holiday hours, phone number, website and service areas should match what you actually offer. Wrong hours are one of the fastest ways to lose a customer's trust. Write a business description in plain words: what you do, where, and what makes you a safe pair of hands. Use posts for offers, recent jobs or seasonal reminders. They show someone is looking after the profile.

Reviews matter most. A steady trickle of real customer reviews, each answered politely, does more for how a profile reads than anything else on it. Ask every customer with your short review link, reply to every review within a few days, and handle the occasional bad one calmly and in public.
